The Simple Pleasures series was created to remind me to stop, to look, to listen, to slow down and pay closer attention to the simple things in life. And whenever I do, I'm never disappointed. It might be the sound of a baby's laugh, the gentle splash of a summer rain against the window, or flowers in a jar on the kitchen windowsill.

You're invited to share your simple pleasures with us here, every Thursday. Mr. Linky is active on Wednesday evenings by 9:00 PM CST. Below are the guidelines for participating. I really hope you'll join us.

SIMPLE PLEASURES - Guidelines

In an effort to keep the Simple Pleasures series authentic, and true to its name, a few rules apply. Please read carefully and contact me with any questions.

The most important guideline to remember is:


This is NOT the place to link to multiple parties in one post. 

While it's possible to find one, maybe two, memes that can work with this series, I prefer that you not try and link up with more than that. There are plenty of blog parties where  you can showcase your home and things around your home. What I'm looking for here is a pure "simple pleasure" theme, and a post that spells it out in clear fashion, either in words or photographs, without having to hunt for it with a magnifying glass.


Other postings that don't work for Simple Pleasures:

1. Giveaway promotions - There may be times when I announce a special edition of Simple Pleasures, in which giveaway promotions are accepted and encouraged, but, otherwise, please refrain from linking up with this kind of post. It will be deleted.

2.  Full-blown articles - Posts that are merely articles, regardless of subject, will be deleted.

3. Linky parties within this linky party - This becomes quite complicated for the reader, and simplicity is what this party is all about.


If you're new to linking up to blog parties, here's how it's done.

1. CREATE a new post, showcasing your SIMPLE PLEASURE. Somewhere in the body of your post, include a link back to my blog, using a link, or by grabbing the Simple Pleasures button on my sidebar. (FYI, party hostesses have to PAY to put on a blog party, so it seems only kind that you acknowledge them in your post.)

2. PUBLISH your SIMPLE PLEASURE post on your blog.

3. AFTER your post is published, click on the TITLE of your post. This will allow you to capture what’s called the permalink. Your post’s title (not your blog title) should be visible at the end of the link.

4. COPY your permalink using the “copy” command, then RETURN to the current SIMPLE PLEASURE post. The permalink helps readers find your Simple Pleasures post, even weeks and months later, which is why it's important to use it. If you don't use the permalink, you will not get many visitors from the party, simply because they can't find your post.

5. Using the “paste” command, PASTE your permalink into the appropriate linky box at the end of the post.

6. Follow Mr. Linky's instructions for "entering" the party.

That's it! It's always a good idea to check and see if your link is working.

As with any party, the idea is to mingle, so please visit some of the other participants, as time allows. I like the idea of visiting the one above and below your entry, if you’re short on time. That way, everybody gets some bloggy love.

In most cases, the linky is activated on Wednesday evenings by 9:00 PM CST. Hope to see you at the party!

Please Note: If you discover later that your link has been deleted, it is most likely because 1) your post didn't include a link back to Simple Pleasures, and/or 2) your post was off subject, covered too many subjects, and/or did not include a clear simple pleasure. This series really is all about simplicity.
