I'm home again for a few days.
The parents are doing well, thank the Lord,
and thank you for your prayers!
As I walked through my little house this evening, I couldn’t help but smile. I thought about skipping, but I figured at my age, that might hurt.
Instead of skipping, I lit the candles and ignored the dust.

Home is a shelter from storms--all sorts of storms.

There’s just something calming about being surrounded by familiar things.
Home is where the heart's tears can dry at their own pace.

Dear friends, I know that my blogs are less than exciting lately (you know all of the reasons why by now), but thanks so very much for taking this unexpected, and sometimes trying, journey with me, and for stopping by and keeping me company occasionally. It really means a lot.

No place like home. So happy you are back in your element. Love the basket of old pictures. I need to do that.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you are able to be at home for a while....even it you have to go back. It is hard to be away for so long-you feel such disconnection. Enjoy your time and try to find some peace in the small moments- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and restful, Dayle. (Your pics have inspired me to use some of my antique things more creatively!). I've just gone through losing my Mom and I can feel for the journey you're walking out. It's been painful but I'm continually amazed at the inner resources the Lord has and is giving me and my family. His loving grace is so very real--may that be your experience, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. Glad you're home and you're all in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking us along on your journey! I love the warmth of these images, and celebrate your homecoming!
ReplyDeleteOh Dayle, soooo glad you are blessedly home for a bit. You are so right. When we are home, we can relax and luxuriate in our own familiar surroundings.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it when I am home. I cannot remember who said it but a writer coined the phrase, "Homekeeping hearts are happinest."
That certainly applies to me.
So glad you have been there for your Mom and Daddy. I'm sure you mean the world to them. You are a good, kind and faithful daughter.
Enjoy every second at home, dear Dayle. Susan
What are friends for... being there for ya!
ReplyDeleteYour journey will help some of us, more then you know.
Oh... ~sigh~ your bedroom is gorgeous. Your bed, perfectly lovely.
Oh do I ever know this feeling...be it ever so humble! Enjoy your time at home! Glad your parents are doing well!
ReplyDeleteDayle,
ReplyDeleteI have especially loved your posts during this trying time--so simple, so heart-wrenching in the most bittersweet way--I have felt a peace here--thank you--
That's what friends do: Hang in there with you!
ReplyDeleteKelley~
P.S. Welcome home!
Perfect! Your writing and pictures are always uplifting and welcome in my life! I cherish and appreciate our friendship!
ReplyDeleteGlad the Parents are doing well and WELCOME HOME! :)

It feels warm and comforting stopping by your blog again for a visit. Your home is most inviting, just like your casual and easy-to-be-with posts that, most certainly reflect your personality!
ReplyDeleteThrilled to read your parents are doing well :)
I love the William J. Bennett quote and believe home truly can be a shelter from most storms.
ReplyDeleteI was so pleased to open my blog this morning and see the title of your post on my side board. I knew that a visit back home for you meant good news for your dad.
ReplyDeleteI relate very well to your sentiment about folks sticking by you through the less "exciting" times. I appreciate it right back.
Lovely photos! Especially like the wire basket of snapshots!
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine the feeling of coming home after being away - nothing compares. My shoulders drop, my breathing eases. My own bed....bliss!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad things are going well enough to allow you time at home!
