I don't know who took this photo, but isn't it amazing? I almost get tears in my eyes every time I look at it.
God has promised us a place of shelter, a place of safety, a place where we don't have to do anything but trust.
God has promised us a place of shelter, a place of safety, a place where we don't have to do anything but trust.
That doesn't mean the storms of life will pass us by, but it does mean that when the storms come, if we stay close to God, He will give us strength to get through it.
One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 91. Here are just a few verses:
He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.
He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day.
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Joining up with Inspiration Friday.

I would love to have that picture framed and hanging in my home. My husband and I are experiencing a storm of life right now, and there is no better place to be than "under His wings!" What an encouraging post.
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower and glad I found you, Mary Alice
That photo is amazing and Psalm 91 is my favorite. I tried memorizing it once but I can't seem to get it all in my head. This is a wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of hearing that our Father has us under His wings.
ReplyDeleteThank you, again for the encouragement.
I LOVED this. That picture is just perfect, practically a tear jerker like you said. How I love those verses...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous....great touching post
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this picture speaks volumes! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous, gorgeous photo. A lovely sentiment.
ReplyDeleteI really loved that picture and needed it to remind me to have faith and know I have shelter - the lady I have taken care of for so long has been given days to live and with her passing my life will change dramatically so I have to remember to do one minute at a time and have faith that new doors will open thank you for that uplifting post!
ReplyDeleteI found this post so encouraging and yes that is an amzingly beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteDale, love, love that picture AND the scripture. Where did you find that picture?
ReplyDeleteWhat an unbelievable picture, Dayle. Having spent a great deal of time running to the shadow of the Most High God, I know how those little birds feel.
ReplyDeleteHello Dayle,
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful picture and it perfectly illustrates the lovely verses you have chosen today....
God Bless

I absolutely love this photo as well! It was sent to me a while back in an email and my heart was so full, seeing the beauty of this momma bird sheltering her babies.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this today. Beautiful example of this scripture.

That is just about the most amazing photo I've ever seen! Wow. God speaks to us in so many ways. My hubby and I were just quoting this Psalms yesterday on the way to church. Just want to abide under His shadow. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Dayle, What an inspiring photo and post you've written here. At first I didn't notice the babies under the Momma Bird's wings... A lovely and thought provoking photo it is. I can see why you have tears in your eyes when you look at it.
ReplyDeletePsalm 91 is one of my favorite Psalms too. One can never read it enough times. I'm getting ready to join a study on the book of James at our church. I'm looking forward to it. I've not been in a Bible Study for way too long.
I was rereading part of a comment that you left on my blog a few months back...and you stated that people don't get rid of a car just because the tire gets flat. (My blog is about Marital Restoration) That comment reminded me of the time the Lord brought an old friend back into my life. A friendship that had gone through painful moments; and therefore we both left it go by the wayside.
When the Lord brought her back into my life, my daughter said she was glad to see that we were becoming friends again. I immediately tried to convince myself that I'd not allow the friendship to become as close as it once was; this time I was going to have boundaries so I wouldn't get hurt. I totally heard the Holy Spirit speak to my heart and say, "Why is it that when one marries, they marry for better or for worse; but in a friendship...you run when times get tough or the friendship hits a bump in the road?". I had lunch with that friend later...and I told her exactly that. We are closer friends today than we were ever before...and all because I took a totally different view on what friendship is. Just had to share that with you.
I am burning the midnight oil; just couldn't sleep tonight...so making some mid morning visits!
Wishing you Basketfull of Blessings in 2012!

Hi Dayle, Just a quick FYI: I was checking on your book information on Amazon.com and noticed they have your Home Improvement book listed at $200. My guess is that's a type o - just wanted you to know so you can contact them to get it corrected. :) Your books sound amazing, I need to get them ordered and read them! ;)
ReplyDeleteCatherine,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great note about renewing an old friendship. What a blessings. As for Amazon listers, I have no control over their listings, but I did laugh out loud at the $200. I wish!
Have a blessed week, my friend.
Catherine,
ReplyDeleteI went to Amazon and saw the outrageous $200 listing from some wishful seller (deluded is a better word, perhaps). There are also some used books listed for as low as $.04. That puts it all in perspective. :)
What an amazing photo! WOW! And it is a wonderful feeling to be safe and secure! ♥
