A month is a long time to be away from home, but that was the original plan. It's now been three weeks. We have covered something like 3,000 miles, and had an incredible trip, so far. But ... The Man and I are considering making the homeward turn earlier than planned. It's not a settled matter yet. We'll hem and haw and all those things before a final decision is made. And, in the meantime, I will linger over the memory of the one and only campfire we've had on this trip, because I know, soon enough, we'll be heading south, and I know it's still hot as a firecracker in Texas, and a fire will be the last thing I'll want to see. But, for now, the memory rests easy on my mind.

ReplyDeleteI was just in Texas(visiting from Ohio) and it was 104 - 106 all 6 days I was there. But I was there to be with my 17 month old grandson (and of course my daughter and son-in-law), so the heat wasn't important.

I'm sure it is hot in Texas, but I can tell you it is cooling off a bit, at least for a few days, here in Indiana. It might make for an even earlier harvest that we are expecting. ReplyDeleteWhewww....it's so hot here but I cant waut to have campfires again soon. I had to laugh about your comment on my gray post. Girlfriend...you dont want me talking about my grays. I shared a post back when I decided to cover a few...on the same day as my sons graduation. A big no no! It was a hot mess...ha! For now I will just stick with cabinets..ha!
ReplyDeleteWhen the kids were little, we would spend 3 months in the States for the summer. Now, as they've gotten older, and travelling is easier with them, we find that within the first few weeks we are ready to come back home (even if home is Kuwait at the moment). We've been back a week now, after 6 weeks in the States, and travelling about 6,000 miles or so by road. It was nice, but truly, there is no place like home and getting back to your normal routine (even if it is messed up at the moment because of jet lag). I can certainly understand how you feel.
