The Man and I are on an extended road trip. (Don't worry, we left capable house-sitters and a big bad dog at home.) One of the best parts about leaving home, for me, is deciding what books to take. I often end up taking repeat material, books that I read over and over again. But, ironically, I always find something fresh between the pages.
What's your simple pleasure? I created Simple Pleasures to remind me to stop, to look, to listen, to pay closer attention to the small things in life. And whenever I do, I'm never disappointed. It might be the sound of a baby's laugh, the gentle splash of a summer rain against the window, or flowers in a jar on the kitchen windowsill.
Thanks so much to those who linked up last Thursday. I'm excited to see what you're sharing today. I may be a bit late getting around to you, being on the road and all, but I'll be by at some point.

Dayle,
ReplyDeleteCatching up on your reading (and re-reading!) during your travels sounds wonderful. I hope your trip is full of fun experiences and I'm looking for some great pictures, too!

I hope you have a relaxing time. I love reading too. I do read overs also! Currently re-reading The Small Woman, A Praying Life. Just got done re-reading Homing Coming. New reads these past few weeks are Francis Chan's books, Crazy Love and the Forgotten God and some fiction by Thomas Kinkade.
ReplyDeleteoooops, I meant Homecoming!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit to your blog. I discovered you through another gal's link to the Simple Pleasures meme.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE reading, and I especially love car trips for that very purpose.
I love writing too. I did a post a couple weeks ago about the possibility of writing a WW II era novel. I am an unpublished author of a 783 page novel. (I wrote it back in the late 80's but was never able to get it published, then shelved it while I raised my children...now that my homeschooling years are behind me, I'm thinking about writing again)
Anyhow, I hope you have a wonderful trip and that you get alot of lovely books read.
Blessings,
Patti (Fill My Cup with Beauty)
Have a great road trip. I've been through many of the States you mentioned since arriving from Kuwait a month ago -- we've been down lots of highways and byways. :) Loved your shoe story -- my husband does the same thing. Best wishes to you and yours, Tammy
ReplyDeleteReading is a simple pleasure I recently discovered. I haven't been much of a reader until recently... and I realized how fun it can be! :) This is a really cool idea for a meme! I look forward to reading the other entries!
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed reading - it is truly a simple pleasure.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time away.
Blessings,
Joan
Your photos is inviting...I like reading too :) although..a bit difficult to find that piece of quiet time in a day filled with my three bouncy boys. Enjoy ~
ReplyDeleteWhat a WONDERFUL idea for posts. I will link up for sure next week. Reading is right up there on my list of things I enjoy. I too read and re-read most of my favorite books. I sometimes just flip open to a favorite part and read that ~ other times I read the whole thing again from cover to cover. Your right too, I often come away with a totally new and different thought. Glad your enjoying a road trip. Another pleasure of mind. HUGS, Debbie
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I would do if I couldn't reread my favorite books. They are like old friends. And you are right. There is always something new in the old.
ReplyDeleteJust this evening I was amazed at the amount of books on my shelf that I have read since Christmas. Definitely a simple pleasure for me and rarely go anywhere without one.
ReplyDeleteGlad to find the Simple Pleasures meme and look forward to reading the pleasures of others.
